On 09/11/2001 I was doing an interview for a magazine in Spain. The journalist asked me, "are you ok?" and I replied,
"yes, why?." He thought I was in New York and told me to turn on the TV! That is how I found out. I think the shock of
that moment and the days that followed (as I was in Washington D.C. on Sept 13, 2001) subconsciously drove much of my
music. I'll never forget the intensity on people's faces in D.C. ...While this song isn't specifically about 9/11, emotionally
it was the impetus. I spent lot's of phone time with friends in New York who gave me accounts of being only a few blocks away from the disaster at the North and South towers, respectively, of the World Trade Center complex.Their voices are completely indescribable now.

Business was booming

Conflict of culture
Open season on the free world
